The numbers
Every charity says it keeps overheads low. Almost none publishes the figure. Here it is.
Not 95%. Not "the vast majority". If you give towards a child's school fees, the school receives that amount and the receipt is published against your donation.
This is possible because running costs — hosting, bank charges, travel for verification — are funded separately by the founders rather than skimmed from donations. That is a deliberate choice and it has a limit: it works at this scale and would need revisiting at a much larger one. When that changes, this page changes, before it happens rather than after.
| Website and hosting | £70 / yr |
| Payment processing | ~1.4% + 20p |
| Verification travel | Volunteer |
| Salaries | None |
Card processing is the one cost we cannot absorb — it is taken by the payment provider before the money reaches us. Bank transfer avoids it entirely.
The ledger
Money in, money out, which case, which provider, which date. Published whether or not anyone asks, including the months where little happened.
